There is a climb to go around Beacon Rock. You will find a nice campground here, restrooms and, if you need some more exercise, a nice hike to the top of Beacon Rock. That is about a mile and a half and a wonderful view from the top, so do not leave your camera.

Past Beacon Rock the road is a rolling/flat ride. The wind can really start to pick up here since there are fewer trees to block it. Luckily in the summer the wind is easterly and you will have a nice tail wind for this part of the ride.

If you want a shorter loop, you can cross at the Bridge of the Gods. It is a gated bridge deck (see 2004 ride). One close friend on mine once said, "It's called the Bridge of the Gods because you pray to every one you can think of when you are riding across it".
