Day two of this trip was as expected—rain. I had chosen not to have breakfast in Hood River, primarily since I could only find a Shari's. I opt'ed for Cascade Locks, which had a great breakfast, but was a little far. The Cascade Inn is a restaurant on the south side of the main drag (410 NW Wa-Na-Pa St) in a strip mall. Strongly recommend there full breakfast.

At Eagle Creek there are a set of stairs to climb to get you to the HCRH. They have a tire grove, but with a fully loaded bike you will probably need to carry packs up. I took off my front panniers and handlebar bag and still had a rough time pushing my bike up the stairs.

The HCRH is not as nice here as it is between Mosier and Hood River. Tree roots have taken their toll and there are a lot of bumps. Between the rain on my glasses and the leaves on the trail, there was no seeing these and made for a real bumpy ride. The worst part is after the top of the stairs (westbound).

When the HCRH Trail comes back to the Freeway it parallels on a frontage road on the north side. That abruptly end on a bridge. If you go that far, back track a quarter mile and there are a couple of places you can get to the Freeway. This reduces your Freeway travel to about a mile. This is also the last of the freeway you will need to do.

Because of the rain, I took only a few pictures, so I am adding a few from other trips so you see why this trip is so nice. They are labeled as such on their full-sized page.
